Preparing for Festival Beauty season is like a competitive sport. It’s not for the faint of heart, from getting tickets quickly to obtaining the greatest place at the front of the crowd.
Even packing demands you to be on top of your game. With little luggage space, your beauty routine must be efficient and comprehensive.
Pocket sized sunscreen
Why is it vital…
I’ll be the first to say that applying sunscreen is not my strong point. However, now that I have this pocket-sized Glow Recipe option, I actually like the procedure because it not only smells delicious but is also very convenient to use and transport.
This pocket sunscreen not only protects against the sun’s rays, but it also contains niacinamide, which gives you a healthy glow.
Shower in a can
Why it’s an essential…
When showers are few and far between having a refreshing face mist spritz on hand is the closest thing you’ll get to feeling cleansed.
For years, Evian face spray has been a cult favourite among Festival Beauty -goers, and with Glasto shaping up to be a scorcher, you’ll be grateful for this’shower in a can’.
Dry Shampoo
Why it’s an essential…
It’s quite unlikely that you’ll have time to wash your hair throughout the Festival Beauty weekend. Extend a favor to the camp’s dedicated French braider (aka your most dextrous, obedient, and sober comrade) by soaking up extra oil from your hair with a few squirts of dry shampoo.
Hair by Sam McKnight’s Lazy Girl is one of the greatest dry shampoo solutions available. It is non-chalky and extremely lightweight, making it excellent for rejuvenating your locks in between washes. (Or for more volume on clean hair.) It doesn’t feel too powdered, but rather light and unobtrusive. Furthermore, the frankincense, juniper wood, and water lily combination aroma, developed in cooperation with perfume maestro Lyn Harris, is simply lovely.
One Hit Wonder
Why it’s an essential…
Having a multi-purpose makeup product is essential for Festival Beauty since it allows you to spend less time getting glam and more time going down in the mosh pit with your besties. This Milk Cooling Water Jelly Tint can be used on the lips, cheeks, and eyes.
If you haven’t seen this product making the rounds on TikTok, let me be the first to inform you that the girls are huge admirers. Available in four different colorways, with a bouncy texture that glides on smoothly for a sheer, buildable flash of color that lasts all day.
Tinted Moisturiser
Why it’s an essential…
Unless your go-to foundation is incredibly lightweight, go for a tinted moisturizer. They’re ideal for giving your complexion a healthy dose of colour while allowing its natural brightness to come through. Slapdash application is fine, and you may perform it without a mirror if necessary.
Nars’ Pure Radiant version is very exceptional; I’ve been using it for about a decade. I’ve tried a lot of different products over the years, but I keep returning to this cult favorite because of how well it blends into my skin. Late nights and drink, for many, are two unavoidable components of the Festival Beauty weekend, can leave your skin appearing lackluster. Perk it back up with this forgiving, sheer base – a tonic for dull complexions.
Glitter
Glitter, a Festival Beauty makeup staple, will conceal a myriad of beauty flaws when a lack of sleep begins to take its toll. When it comes to loose pigment, Mac’s Glitter Pots are a popular choice among makeup artists. Simply apply an arc of moisturizer (I’ve never found a specific glitter primer to be required), sweeping from the top of your cheekbone to the arch of your brow, and then pack it on. Another reliable method is to apply a wash of shimmer to your lids.
Stila’s Glitter & Glow shadows are incredibly easy to apply. They slide onto the lids, surprisingly silky-smooth for glitter powders, and create high-impact dazzle in seconds. I’ve owned several shades throughout the years, but I’ve opted on ‘Wanderlust’ for this.
Travel Face Cloths
Why it’s an essential…
Another thing I’m not ashamed to confess is that when I’m at a Festival Beauty, the last thing I want to do before sleeping is stand in line for the restroom to remove my makeup. Having these hypoallergenic towels on hand is a godsend because they are not only compact and portable, but they are also water activated and compostable.
Suitable for all skin types; simply add water to expand and cleanse as needed. I promise you that these hypoallergenic compressed towels will give you no reason to sleep with your Festival Beauty makeup on.
Statement Stickers
Why it’s an essential…
Facial stickers are ideal for people looking to make a big impact with little effort. Face Lace, the brainchild of cosmetics innovator Phyllis Cohen, has an amazing assortment, and the simple application procedure ensures a stress-free festival makeup experience.
Sadly, Face Lace revealed this year that it is beginning to reduce its retail presence, so buy up now before you miss out. The brand’s mesmerizing ‘Devotion’ liners were seen on Florence Pugh earlier this year in a look designed by Alex Babsky for the New York premiere of Dune: Part Two. But for this Festival Beauty season, the ‘Reflectasy’ design has piqued my interest. These chrome stickers have a strong impact and are subject to interpretation, making them feel unique and stand out.
All-Rounder Mascara Festival Beauty
Why it’s an essential…
Mascara is many people’s desert island makeup choice, and rightfully so. Fewer items can instantly improve your appearance and make you look more awake (especially if your natural lashes are sparse). I’d recommend getting one that’s buildable and will stay put.
Without being overly dramatic, Sensai’s Lash Volumiser 38°C is genuinely rather life-changing. Princess Diana’s makeup artist, Mary Greenwell, recommended it to me, and now I’m obsessed. As Mary promised, it doesn’t budge and is resistant to sweat, water, and sebum, which is why it’s one of her red carpet favorites for celebrity clientele. But it’s also easy to use: the triple spiral wand coats each lash from root to tip, resulting in superb separation. I also love the wand.
Pimples but make it fashion
Why is it vital…
Spots and pimples don’t go with any festival costume, unless they’re embellished with a statement pimple patch. Not only will these protect your spots from bacteria and debris, but they will also reduce redness while making a stylish statement.
Even when I’m not on official festival business, I wear and enjoy these powerful spot stickers. The days of hiding pimples under a swarm of concealers are over; in 2024, it’s all about accepting skin blemishes and making them cute in the process.
